Note: I’ve got some new posts coming soon with a list of other ideas to write about as time goes by. While I figure out how often I want to send out new writing, here’s a recap of something I wrote about a year ago. Some of you may have already seen these, but I’m betting there’s others who haven’t.
If you haven’t ready my books, this won’t make much sense to you. If you have, perhaps you’ll enjoy a deeper dive into the people of Hammond’s Corners and what makes them tick.
It was about a year ago that I wrote a three part series of essays about some of the characters in the In Times of Trouble trilogy and how I came up with them. Originally I wanted to put it all at the end of the last book, but that would have been way too much. So here’s a recap of those three essays and links to them.
A Cast of Characters – Learn more about what goes into coming up with a character. You can also learn more about Jim, Jen and Gary as well as my personal connections to them. Read about it here.
A Cast of Characters: The Women – I found writing female characters, especially in a post-apocalyptic world, to be tricky at times, but also a very rewarding experience. Among the many women in the series, Crossroads introduced two women whose personalities revealed themselves to me as I wrote, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Read that here.
A Cast of Characters: Odds And Ends – In this one I talked about a few of the other characters including two who may not have seemed important when they were first introduced, but were more than what met the eye. You can find that here.
As I mentioned at the end of that third installation, I could write about every one of the characters in the book in some way or another. I also mentioned that I would perhaps write about some of the bad guys, maybe a couple supporting assholes. So if that’s something you’d like to see, let me know and I’ll add it to my list.

Though I’ve pulled some things off, there’s still a lot of things I’ve previously written over the years here on the site. So if you haven’t already, grab a beverage and dive in. You’ll find it all under “View From The Hills” at the main menu. Just hover your mouse over that and the menu will drop down.
